About our chimes
What is an indoor solar wind chime?
It's a wind chime that makes gentle chimes indoors, without wind, batteries or cords. A small solar cell in the chime top collects light from a window or lamp and powers a tiny motor that gently taps the chime rods.
How do indoor solar wind chimes work?
When light shines on the solar cell in the chime top, the energy is stored on a small circuit board inside the top. When enough energy builds up, a tiny motor moves the striker, which gently taps the chime rods to create soft, relaxing tones.

Wind Chime Fun is the only company that manufactures and sells indoor solar wind chimes.
Where are your chimes made?
Our chimes are designed, assembled and painted in the USA, using both US-made and imported components.
Is the sound loud?
No. The chime is soft and peaceful, with gentle tones that come and go throughout the day.
Does the chime light up?
No. The solar cell uses light to power the chiming, but the chime itself does not light up or glow.
Using your chime
What kind of light does it need?
It works with sunlight or indoor lamp light. A regular lamp will make it chime, but brighter light means more chiming, so most people prefer a sunny window.
How long does it take to start chiming?
Usually just a few minutes in good light.
Can I change how often it chimes?
Yes. Move it closer to a light source for more chiming, or farther away for gentler, less frequent chiming. The volume itself can't be adjusted.
Is there an on/off switch?
No. To quiet it, simply move it away from bright light or into a dimmer spot.
Do I need batteries or electricity?
No. The chime runs only on light. There are no batteries to replace and no cords to plug in.
Can I use it outdoors?
No. The chimes are made for indoor use only. They are not weather-resistant, and rain or moisture would damage the parts inside.
Is it good for apartments?
Yes. It sits on a tabletop and needs no outdoor space, wind or installation.
How do I assemble and care for my chime?
Simple instructions come with every chime. Just hang the chime rods and striker on their hooks under the chime top, then hang the top on the stand. To clean, gently dust the top with a soft, dry cloth. Please don't use cleaners or anything abrasive.

Do your chimes come with a warranty?
Yes. Every chime comes with a 1-year limited warranty covering manufacturing defects. We also sell replacement parts, so you can keep your favorite chime chiming.
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery, as long as the chime is in its original condition and packaging, you have proof of purchase, and the warranty label on the chime top is intact.
